I've been asked if I make Movies or Films ? - I say I tell stories in the medium of the moving picture.
My earliest memories are of movies, no matter how bad things got, my Mom would take me to see a movie. That was our escape - in the dark of the theatre the world would wash away, taking us to places beyond imagination.
The story goes that when I was around 2 - my mom tossed me in the car and we went to the Drive-In - she didn't care what was playing, she just wanted out of the house.
I was in my jamies - standing on the front seat as the movie started - The movie was Barbarella w/ Jane Fonda - when they opened with her naked, I started jumping up and down clapping saying "Pretty Lady, pretty lady..." and thus my love of Film (and naked women) was born.
1977 - Mom just got off work from the Hospital, she was tired, yet we still hopped on a bus and headed to Downtown Seattle to see a new movie. We got off the bus to see a line around the block, like nothing I had ever seen before. We got our tickets and stood in line for well over an hour - as the line started moving I became very excited - walking into a movie theatre is one of the greatest feelings there is.
The movie was Star Wars - it was opening night - not an empty seat to be found and from then on I knew that this was what my passion was to be in life.
I am, for the lack of another term, an Independent Filmmaker - yet unlike most, I don't believe in making disturbing porn and calling it Indie. I have what most don't - it's called an imagination - I write words and characters that entertain and move others.
I hate the word "Provocative" all it means is that the writer and director had nothing of interest to make a film about, so they shock and disgust people and call it art.
I tell stories - I use characters and moments - and showing humans do awful things to each other is NOT what Indie Film is about.
I live in Bothell, WA, just outside of Seattle with only myself - I do have a stuffed duck I run movie ideas by :)
